Voice and Body Training

3-4 weeks

Develop the actor's two primary instruments: voice and body. Study breath support, projection, articulation, and resonance. Practice stage movement, physical awareness, neutral mask work, and basic stage combat or dance.

Core Acting Techniques

4-6 weeks

Study the major acting methodologies: Stanislavski's system, Meisner technique, Adler's approach, and Strasberg's Method. Practice repetition exercises, sense memory work, and scene study with partners to internalize these approaches.

Script Analysis and Character Development

3-4 weeks

Learn to break down scripts systematically: identify given circumstances, objectives, super-objectives, tactics, and beats. Practice building complex, three-dimensional characters from the text up through research and imagination.

Scene Work and Rehearsal Process

4-6 weeks

Apply techniques to full scenes and one-act plays. Learn the professional rehearsal process from read-through and table work to blocking, run-throughs, and technical rehearsals. Develop collaboration skills with directors and fellow actors.

Acting for Camera

3-4 weeks

Adapt stage skills to the screen. Study the technical demands of film and television acting: continuity, hitting marks, working with close-ups, understanding shot sizes, self-taping auditions, and developing on-camera subtlety.

Improvisation and Specialized Skills

3-5 weeks

Develop spontaneity through improv training (long-form and short-form). Explore specialized areas such as Shakespeare and classical text, comedy technique, musical theater, voice-over work, or motion capture.

The Business of Acting and Career Development

2-3 weeks

Learn the professional side: building a resume and headshot portfolio, finding and working with agents, navigating union membership (SAG-AFTRA, Actors' Equity), audition etiquette, self-marketing, and sustaining a career in the performing arts.
