Yoga Philosophy and History
2-3 weeksStudy foundational texts: the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. Learn the eight limbs, the yamas and niyamas, and the historical evolution of yoga from ancient India to modern practice.
Anatomy and Physiology for Yoga
3-4 weeksStudy the musculoskeletal system, major muscle groups, joint mechanics, the spine, and the nervous system as they relate to yoga. Learn contraindications, injury prevention, and how to read bodies in postures.
Asana Technique and Alignment
4-6 weeksDeepen understanding of posture families (standing, seated, prone, supine, inversions, twists, backbends) with precise alignment cues, common misalignments, and modifications using props.
Pranayama and Meditation
2-3 weeksPractice and learn to teach key breathing techniques (Ujjayi, Nadi Shodhana, Kapalabhati, Bhramari) and meditation methods. Understand their physiological effects and appropriate use in classes.
Teaching Methodology and Sequencing
